Cabo San Lucas, also called Los Cabo, is located along the southern tip of Baja California. The closest US city to Cabos San Lucas is San Diego, although it’s still 1,000 miles away.
Fun Things to Do in Cabo
If Tulum is too wild, Cabo San Lucas might be for you. It’s the swanky side of Mexico with pristine beaches, healthy reefs, and lots of cute seals. It’s a very family-friendly destination and feels much safer than Cancun. Cabo has something for everybody whether you’re an ocean lover or enjoy a great night out. How to Get to the Arch of Cabo San Lucas
The only way to get close to Cabo San Lucas is by boat. I recommend choosing a cruise that allows snorkeling. The water’s visibility is usually good, and there are lots of aquatic life to see underwater. Make sure to bring your GoPro or Insta360 to take beautiful photos.
Snorkeling and Diving
Explore the vibrant underwater world of Cabo by snorkeling or diving in the crystal-clear waters. Snorlers love Santa Maria Cove and Chileno Bay. There are many sea lions to see near Pelican Rock, but it can get crowded. During the day, you’ll see lots of boats, snorkelers, and other scuba divers. Go early to beat the crowd. San Diego has double the crime as Cabo, so I can confidently say that Cabo San Lucas is pretty safe. Especially when compared to Mexican cities such as Tijuana and Acapulco. Cabo is a safe and family-friendly destination.
But as travelers, we must always err on precaution and practice safe travel practices, including visiting the U.S. State Department website to see if there are any Cabo travel warnings.
